Welcome to Cultivation: What to Post and How to Ask a Growing Question

This category covers everything about growing cannabis in Thailand and Southeast Asia. You might be growing for the first time or have years of experience. Either way, post what you know and ask about what you don’t.

What to Post Here

  • Growing techniques and methods
  • Climate for tropical growing: heat, humidity and the rainy season
  • Feeding schedules: which nutrients to give, how much, and at which stage
  • Plant training, which means shaping the plant by bending or cutting it so more bud sites get light. This includes LST and HST. LST (low-stress training) means bending and tying branches down. HST (high-stress training) means cutting or crushing stems on purpose, as in topping or supercropping. It also includes SCROG and SOG. SCROG (screen of green) uses a net to spread a few plants into one flat canopy. SOG (sea of green) uses many small plants that are switched to flowering early.

How to Ask So Others Can Help

Put these details in your first post. Without them, other members can only guess.

  • Strain and plant type: seed (regular, feminized or autoflower) or clone (a cutting taken from a mother plant). Growth speed and flowering time depend on this.
  • Growing medium and pot size: soil, coco (coconut fibre) or hydro (roots grown in water). Watering and feeding advice is different for each.
  • Light: type, wattage, and hours on and off. Members use these to judge whether the plant gets too little or too much light.
  • Temperature and humidity, by day and by night: many problems in the tropics start with heat and high humidity.
  • pH and EC of your feed water and runoff: pH measures acidity. EC shows how much fertiliser salt the water holds. Runoff is the water that drains out of the bottom of the pot. Together these numbers show whether the roots can take up nutrients.
  • Stage and week: for example, week 3 of the vegetative (growth) stage or week 5 of flowering.
  • For a sick plant, clear photos taken in white or natural light: show the whole plant and the damaged leaves, both top and underside. Purple grow light hides the real leaf colour, and many pests hide under the leaves.

Guidelines

  • All cultivation must comply with Thai law. In Thailand, cannabis flower is a controlled herb under the Notification of the Ministry of Public Health Re: Controlled Herbs (Cannabis), B.E. 2568. It has been in force since 26 June 2025.
  • Share responsibly. Do not encourage or explain illegal growing anywhere, whether in Thailand or in any other country.
  • Be respectful and helpful to beginners. When you answer, give the settings and numbers you actually used.

Translator’s note: Cannabis law is very different from one Southeast Asian country to the next. In several countries near Thailand, including Malaysia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and the Philippines, growing cannabis is a serious crime. In Malaysia, for example, it carries a mandatory life sentence and whipping. If you live outside Thailand, read the rules for your country in Cannabis Laws Across Asia and Key Global Markets, 2026 (Part 1) before you act on any advice here. In Thailand, advertising cannabis flower and selling it online are prohibited. Do not offer flower for sale in your posts.
