[Q&A] The Difference Between PK and Stimulant in Crop Cultivation
Hello everyone,
Many new growers often confuse PK (Phosphorus–Potassium) with Stimulant (growth stimulants). This article explains the difference clearly.
1. What is PK (Phosphorus – Potassium)?
PK is a primary fertilizer providing two essential nutrients:
- Phosphorus (P): Stimulates flowering, generates energy (ATP), develops roots
- Potassium (K): Regulates transpiration, increases flower weight, enhances disease resistance
Example PK products:
- Monster Bloom (Grotek) — 0-50-30
- CANNA PK 13/14
- Overdrive (Advanced Nutrients)
When to use: Mid to late flowering stage (weeks 3-6)
2. What is a Stimulant?
Stimulants are supplements that don’t provide nutrients directly but activate biological processes in plants:
- Stimulate cell division and metabolism
- Enhance nutrient absorption
- Build stress resistance
Example Stimulant products:
- Vitamax Pro (Grotek) — Vitamin B1 + amino acids
- Bud Fuel Pro (Grotek) — bloom stimulant
- CANNA Boost Accelerator
When to use: Throughout the lifecycle, depending on type
3. Comparison Summary
| PK | Stimulant | |
|---|---|---|
| Type | Primary fertilizer | Supplement |
| Function | Provides P and K nutrients | Biological stimulation |
| Timing | Flowering stage | Throughout lifecycle |
| Overuse risk | Can burn roots | Safer |
4. How to Use Together Correctly
Use Stimulant before and throughout the cycle to prepare plants
Add PK during flowering to boost weight and quality
Never substitute PK for Stimulant or vice versa — they serve different functions
