Hello to all my friends at AsianCannabis,
Today I am sharing a detailed review of a product that is quite well-known through “word-of-mouth” in European and Australian grower circles: Dr. Schimmel S.M.T – Plant & Leaf Wash. It is commonly used to control spider mites and rust mites, as well as for cleaning leaves from the vegetative stage through to early flowering.
1. What is Dr. Schimmel S.M.T?
This is not a chemical pesticide. S.M.T. is a foliar wash that works via mechanical action:
- Disrupts the spider mite’s protective film
- Clogs the spiracles (breathing holes) → causing the mites to dehydrate and die
- Flushes away eggs and larvae from the leaves
- Clears dust, honeydew, and light mold from the leaf surface
Main Advantage: Zero residue – safe to use even during the flowering stage.
2. Tested Pros
- Effective for light to moderate infestations: Mites significantly reduced after 2 applications
- Very safe – no leaf or flower burn, and no chemical odor
- Simple to use – mix with water, spray, wait, and wipe
- Excellent leaf cleaning effect – dust and honeydew are completely removed
- Made from plant-based ingredients and organic surfactants
3. Cons to Know Before Using
This is not a “miracle” product. In the following cases:
Severe Outbreaks (heavy webbing, leaf curling)
→ S.M.T cannot completely eradicate the problem alone
→ Must be used in conjunction with biological miticides, Abamectin, or Beauveria bassiana
Cannot Replace an IPM Program
It is just a foliar wash, not a systemic pesticide.
Requires Repeat Applications
Needs to be applied every 3 days for 7-10 days to ensure full effectiveness.
4. Quick Comparison: SV Biotech – MiteTech
