A consultant is most useful where the cost of learning by experiment is highest, which in this industry is certification, licensing and facility design. Those are also the areas where an unqualified adviser does the most damage, because a mistake is discovered at audit and paid for by rebuilding.
Two things to establish before engaging anyone. Ask what they have actually delivered, meaning named projects, the certificate obtained and the regulator involved, rather than years in the industry; and ask who owns the resulting documentation, since a standard operating procedure you cannot edit is not an asset. And remember the forum verifies nobody: a listing here is a member’s own statement about themselves.
