Start here — Thailand’s legal framework as it stands
Cannabis in Thailand is medical and licensed only. Recreational use is prohibited. Four dates carry the whole framework.
26 June 2025 — cannabis flower became a controlled herb. The Ministry of Public Health Notification on Controlled Herbs (Cannabis) B.E. 2568 placed cannabis inflorescence under the Protection and Promotion of Thai Traditional Medicine Knowledge Act B.E. 2542. Sale for human consumption requires a PT 33 prescription — up to 30 days, single use, no refills. Advertising a controlled herb is banned. Online sale is banned. Flower must be sourced from certified sites under good agricultural and collection practice.
1 May 2026 — licence criteria tightened. Ministerial Regulation (No. 2) B.E. 2569 added requirements for anyone licensed to sell, process, study or export cannabis flower: control of the premises or written consent from the owner; separate storage that keeps flower out of direct contact with the floor; a qualifying status — hospital, herbal product or pharmaceutical licence, folk healer certification, or a certified cultivator supplying licensed buyers; at least one staff member trained by the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine present during opening hours; and an effective odour and smoke elimination system. Existing licences run to their expiry, then must meet the new criteria at renewal.
27 June 2026 — a prescription became a forgery question. The Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine announced criminal action under the Criminal Code over blank PT 33 forms signed in advance and completed later by retailers, reaching practitioners, retailers, facilities and individuals alike, alongside digital verification that flags duplicate document numbers. “We have the prescription on file” is now worth exactly what the document behind it is worth.
28 July 2026 — food and drink advertising got its own regime. The Criteria for Food Advertising B.E. 2569 govern how cannabis, hemp and kratom may be advertised as ingredients in food and beverages — separate from the controlled-herb advertising ban. Mandatory warning wording, reviewed permits and bans on specific claims apply. A business can be fully compliant on flower advertising and still breach these rules with a drink label.
On hemp, one point removes a whole category of business plan. A flowering bud is a controlled herb whatever its cannabinoid content — low THC does not exempt a bud. The two thresholds people constantly conflate: 1.0% THC by dry weight defines the hemp plant, while 0.2% caps extracts and finished products.

What you can and cannot post
- No sale of cannabis flower or of anything requiring a prescription — no offers, no prices, no order channels, in any category
- No advertising of a controlled herb, flower included; for a licensed business this is a suspendable offence, not a technicality
- No recreational content, and nothing written for jurisdictions where cannabis is illegal
- Marketplace and vendor sections are for equipment, inputs, services and business-to-business trade — not for flower
- Cite the source of a number. A figure with no source behind it is the fastest way to cost a farm a harvest

- Ask a specific question. “What is wrong with this plant” gets a real answer when it comes with photographs, electrical conductivity, pH, medium and week number
- Post what you measured. A feed chart that held up through a Thai wet season is worth more here than any general guide
