Processing is where a hemp venture becomes a business or stalls. Raw stalk is bulky enough that transport is expensive, which is why decortication tends to sit close to the field, and fibre grade is set by the retting rather than by the variety alone, so under-retted or over-retted straw cannot be corrected downstream. The food side is worth separating in your planning as well: seed oil and protein are food products with food processing requirements, and folding them into a single facility plan with the fibre line is how approval timelines get lost.
