Link the source rather than a news report about it, and name the study design when you summarise: a case report, an observational study and a randomised controlled trial support very different sentences, and most disagreements here dissolve once that is on the table. Keep the mechanism separate from the outcome as well. A pathway shown in cell culture is a reason to run a trial, not a reason to expect a result, and popular summaries of this field overstate that step more often than any other.
