Industrial Hemp: Fibre, Grain and CBD Crops in Southeast Asia

Hemp grown for fibre, grain and cannabidiol rather than for flower: field-scale cultivation, primary processing, and the product categories that come out the other end, from textiles and building materials to seed oil and protein.

Hemp Cultivation covers agronomy at a scale where a grow room is irrelevant, including variety choice, seeding rates, harvest windows and retting. Hemp Products & Processing covers what happens after that, including decortication, seed pressing and extraction.

Two things separate this board from the cultivation boards. The distinction between hemp and cannabis is a chemical and legal one rather than a botanical one, so it moves when the law moves, and the thresholds differ by country. And in Thailand it is the flower that is the controlled herb under the Notification of the Ministry of Public Health Re: Controlled Herbs (Cannabis), B.E. 2568, while extraction above 0.2 percent tetrahydrocannabinol falls under the Ministerial Regulation on Cannabis or Hemp Extracts B.E. 2569, in force since 26 April 2026.

The board is young: one member guide so far, and the sub-boards are open.
