Safety and Regulation: Thai Cannabis Law and Regional Compliance

Cannabis law and compliance read from the primary texts rather than from news summaries: what the Thai rules on controlled herbs actually say, what they do not say, and how the position compares across Asia and the main export markets.

Three Thai instruments govern most of what is discussed here. The Notification of the Ministry of Public Health Re: Controlled Herbs (Cannabis), B.E. 2568 was published in the Royal Gazette, volume 142, special part 229 Ngor, on 25 June 2025 and took effect on 26 June 2025; it is a notification issued under the Protection and Promotion of Traditional Thai Medicine Knowledge Act B.E. 2542, not an Act of its own. The Ministerial Regulation on Cannabis or Hemp Extracts B.E. 2569 took effect on 26 April 2026, and the Ministerial Regulation on Controlled Herbs (No. 2) B.E. 2569 on 30 April 2026. The draft Cannabis Control Act has not been passed.

Two consequences shape every thread here, and every post on this forum. Only the flower is the controlled herb, so rules written for the flower do not automatically reach every part of the plant. And advertising cannabis is prohibited, and so is selling it online. That is why compliant posting is a subject in this board rather than an afterthought.
