What a visitor to Thailand actually needs to know before assuming anything about cannabis here, written plainly and kept current. The legal position, what a shop can and cannot lawfully do, and the mistakes that turn a holiday into a legal problem.
The position changed on 26 June 2025, when the Notification of the Ministry of Public Health Re: Controlled Herbs (Cannabis), B.E. 2568 took effect. The flower is a controlled herb, supply runs through a practitioner using the Phor Thor 33 prescription form and is capped at thirty days, advertising cannabis is prohibited and selling it online is prohibited. A shop operating as if none of that happened is telling you something about the shop.
Two things visitors get wrong most often and most expensively. Nothing you obtain lawfully in Thailand may be carried out of Thailand, and several neighbouring countries treat possession extremely severely, so the departure gate is the risk rather than the purchase. And an English-language menu handed to you does not mean the transaction is lawful; the obligations sit on the seller, but the consequences reach the buyer.
